Najib Yet To Receive Assent From King?
According to a news alert from Suara Keadilan, the Deputy Prime Minister, Najib Tun Razak, has apparently not yet received the consent of the YDP Agong to assume the position of Prime Minister despite having had an audience with His Majesty earlier today.
With Abdullah Badawi’s stepping down from office tomorrow, Najib will, at best, be the Acting Prime Minister until he receives His Majesty’s assent which ought to come only if Najib can prove that he has the support of the majority of the lower house of Parliament.
Does this mean that the prematurely “leaked” invite for his swearing in ceremony tomorrow may have only been an April Fool’s trick? If that’s so, how sweet.
