KeADILan National EXCO: Electoral Alliance and Cooperation for a New Malaysia

The executive committee of Parti Keadilan Rakyat released the following statement today:

On Electoral Alliance

Parti Keadilan Rakyat's core principles are based on good governance, competitive economic growth, citizen safety, protection of the poor and access to education for all. Furthermore, by expansion of these principles, we stand against all forms of racism, ethnic and religious divisiveness, and an acceleration of Malaysia's economic potential with the focus on uprooting corruption in the public and private sectors.

We believe that our electoral alliance partners, the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and the Pan-Malaysia Islamic Party (PAS), share these core principles with us and with each other, and it is on this basis that we have worked together to change our nation for the better.

PKR is committed, and believe our partners are also committed, to working together in the post-election period in a spirit of genuine cooperation. Only through a process of mutual decision and multi-lateral action will we advance the cause of the citizens we jointly represent."

On state government executive positions

Consistent with our understanding with our electoral alliance partners, DAP and PAS, PKR cautions against any speculation on potential appointees for state government positions until these appointments are announced publicly after the mutual consultation and agreement of all parties.
