At least that's what the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz (BN - Padang Rengas), seems to believe:
Singapore is not a real country, it is a small island. Singapore’s population is just three to four million and there are no opportunities for corruption, unlike in our country ..
Will this lead to a diplomatic incident or will it just be another insignificant blip in the erstwhile and longstanding love-hate relationship between these two neighbouring nations?
Personally, I can't wait for the Hansard to be published to read the full context. For the time being, I'll just have to be content with this video clip:
.. and the various other dangerous, volatile things on BIND that go boom when you misconfigure them. Of course, it doesn't help when the last time you even had a look at the Apache Bible was at the turn of the century. May the blessed Mohammad Kabir forgive me.
I was just informed that the text of Malaysian legislations are now available online via the Attorney-General's Chambers. The presentation could be more user friendly but what the hey, its better than nothing.

.. and look up some of his earlier posts and reviews. For the uninitiated, Dean (who recently revealed that it's actually short for Constantine), runs a blog called Heal Your Church Website that among other things, help folks identify what's wrong with their websites and why its usually a good idea to stick some normative web usability rules (check out Dean's blog or A List Apart for some ideas).
Orang Asli Church Demolishment - A Chronological Narrative
This is a follow up of the post I put up yesterday. The building that was torn down was erected by the Orang Asli community of Kampung Jias in the district of Gua Musang, Kelantan. The community recently embraced Christianity and in February of this year, requested for help to erect a church building in their village through their Penghulu or headman, Pedik bin Busu (view scan of letter here).
March 2007
The Penghulu offered the use of his orchard as the site for the new building and upon consultation with local members of the Village Development and Security Committee (Jawatankuasa Kemajuan & Keselamatan Kampung or JKKK) and the Department of Orang Asli Affairs (Jabatan Hal-Ehwal Orang Asli or JHEOA), agreed to build a hall with concrete floors and wooden walls.
If you blog (or plan to blog or am interested in seeing how the Internet can be used for Kingdom purposes or just plain bored) and consider yourself affiliated with the Christian faith, then you might be interested in the meet that will be happening tomorrow.
Dean Peters, owner and webmaster of the social networking and blog aggregator site; blogs4God; and the Church marketing blog; Heal Your Church Web Site; and also a contributing author to the book; Son of Web Pages That Suck, is currently in Malaysia on business and would like to take this opportunity to network and meet up with some Christian bloggers while he's here. He's been in touch with Sivin, Irene, myself and a few others and we have arranged to have a meet up.
On June 4, 2007, a building erected by the Orang Asli on customary and traditional lands for use by their own community to serve as a place of worship was demolished by the Gua Musang District Land Office of Kelantan. This represents another attempt at disenfranchising the Orang Asli from their lands and the denial of their rights to property and freedom of religion as citizens of Malaysia.
Incidentally, Kelantan is currently the only state administered by the Islamic party; PAS (official website is not functioning, more details of the party is available from Wikipedia); although Gua Musang is the Parliamentary constituency of Barisan Nasional's Tan Sri Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, a prince of the Kelantan royal house.
There's this troll who goes around the Malaysian blogosphere, usually impersonating other bloggers, posting inflammatory comments usually with racial or religious bigoted content. Those of us who have been writing social commentaries on our blogs long enough would remember this fellow.
Hafiz has more on this fellow but I'll just post up some screenshots where I have been impersonated, one as recently as this morning in this blog (which I think belongs to menj's fiancee):
YB Teresa Kok (DAP - Seputeh) posted some brief reflections (and I mean very brief) on the 23rd Psalm which I found very thought provoking, snippets of which are reproduced below:
The Lord is my Shepherd That’s Relationship! ..
.. Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me, That’s Discipline! ..
.. Forever. That’s Eternity!
Really worth a good read and some deep meditation.
With an estimated one billion children suffering from extreme deprivation today, it is more vital than ever that we pray. Although the problems facing children have never been more serious, we believe in a God of hope, who is greater than any of these things. He tells us to "be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer" (Rom 12:12), and we come to him this weekend in response to that call.
This Sunday (June 3, 2007), Bangsar Lutheran Church joins Viva Network and other Christians all over the world to pray together for God’s hope and healing to transform life for the desperately poor, the orphaned, the exploited and the neglected. Pray that the reality of who God is will touch children’s hearts, bringing peace and joy to those who feel hopeless and afraid.
If you have been brought to this site due to inflammatory comments on religion, race or other similiar content, please note that there is a sockpuppet going around impersonating me and a few other bloggers. For background, see my posts here, here, here and here.
